Water... My Best Getaway

Water. Ever since I was a kid, I have LOVED the water. When I was little, I played in creeks and streams on my granddad’s farm or fished in one of his ponds. I’ve hiked up streams… in the water… to see majestic waterfalls. Anytime I go to the ocean, I almost have to be forcibly removed from it. I’m not sure why I am so fascinated with water, but it is where I feel most at peace; it’s when I feel the most joy. It doesn’t matter if it’s an ocean, sea, lake, river, stream or tiny creek, water rejuvenates me. Let’s face it, the idea of zombies is humans with no passion. They don’t experience joy or peace. Their complete existence, if they were real, is to steal life from others. With that in mind, there have been times in my life when I was a zombie… times when I lacked passion and sucked the lifeblood from my friends. There have been times when my depression was so great, it infected everyone I touched. It’s one of the reasons I moved closer to the water, to escape my personal zombie land… to move near a physical source of one of my passions. What gives you joy? What gives you peace? If you feel like you are infecting others with hate or discord, what do you need to do to escape your personal zombie land?
