I recently took a trip to Texas. I visited Dallas and San Antonio. I love Texas. It's open, filled with nice people and warm... or hot depending on the time of year. I highly recommend a visit to San Antonio. There is much more than just the Alamo. I loved the river walk. It's amazing how you can me in the middle of a hectic city and yet find tranquility. The hill country outside of San Antonio is amazing if you like wide open spaces. While in the hill country, I visited the LBJ ranch and a reconstructed western town - where this picture was taken. There are many historic sites to see. The cultural aspect is phenomenal including the nearby German community of Fredricksburg and the vibrant Hispanic district.
If there were a zombie apocalypse, San Antonio would be one of the better cities to be. People are well armed and know how to survive. Also, once you get out of the city, there are plenty of wide open spaces to camp out in. Zombie apocalypse or not, I recommend a visit to Texas.
